Citizen Science Symposium

The Biodiverse Anthropocenes' first Citizen Science Symposium is open to all members of the community inside and outside the university. Welcome to discuss, “Citizen Science: what is doing to and for Science?” The event will be held in person at Tellus Backstage on Tuesday 24 January from 9:00am – 11:30am. Afterwards, we will have a catered lunch from 11:30 – 12:30. The symposia include:

What is ‘Science’ in Citizen Science? A Perspective from Philosophy of Science,” by Jouni-Matti Kuukkanen, Associate Professor of Philosophy, University of Oulu.

“Citizen science with young people and other animals – Who counts and how?”  by Pauliina Rautio, Senior Research Fellow, Faculty of Education, University of Oulu & Adjunct Professor of Education, University of Helsinki. 

"Citizen science in botanical research and nature conservation: a few examples from personal experience," by Mykyta Peregrym Visiting Researcher, Ecology and Genetics Research Unit, University of Oulu.
